PADI IDC Staff Internship
The IDC Staff Instructor course prepares candidates to teach the PADI Assistant Instructor course and to staff PADI instructor development programs. The training furthers teaching abilities and develops candidate’s evaluation and counseling skills through independent study, classroom sessions, guided evaluation training and an internship. Many experienced PADI instructors find this course one of the most rewarding courses to take as it brings you fully up to date with the PADI system and greatly improves mentoring and coaching abilities.
Candidates often inform us that they feel this course is a great reminder that there is no one “correct” way to teach and that candidates learn a lot of things that they might of forgotten since taking the IDC. Once candidates have successfully completed the IDC Staff Instructor Course they will be allowed to Independently teach and certify PADI Assistant Instructors at dive center or resorts that are at a minimum PADI Five Star Dive Center or Resorts, conduct IDC segments training segments while a PADI Course Director is available on premises for consultation, evaluate and critique instructor candidate knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations, provide counseling and remedial training for instructor candidates and IDC Staff Instructor candidates, assist with instructor-level continuing education programs, such as PADI Specialty Instructor Training courses, observe the orientation and closing sessions of PADI Instructor Examinations.
After a preassessment of your instructor-level knowledge of dive theory, exemplary dive skills and role-model presentation techniques, you’ll participate in these sessions:
- Instructor development standards, procedures and curriculum
- How to organize and conduct the PADI Assistant Instructor course
- The psychology of evaluation and counseling
- Evaluating knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations
Plus, you’ll get to audit an IDC or practice teaching many curriculum components.

PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course
Following two days Staff Instructor assessment with our Platinum PADI Course Director working on evaluation and developing effective feedback, you will follow and audit a PADI IDC where you will put into practice what you have learnt.
When auditing the IDC you work with the Course Director to mentor candidates and guide them through the process of becoming a PADI Instructor. As such you will need a high level of dive theory and good understanding of the PADI system.
You will also have to pass the IDC theory and standards exam to a higher level than previous. plus give demonstration quality knowledge development and confined water presentations.
Staff Instructor Course - All Inclusive
In addition the to the above the all inclusive option includes all PADI Materials including the PADI Course Director Manual, confined and open water evaluation slates.
You will also follow the “IDC prep” where you will work with Alex our Platinum PADI Course Director where you will work with IDC candidates to enhance their theory and skills. where we look at not just passing the exams butt how to teach all elements of dive theory.
In addition you will also follow the MSDT trip and learn how to assist on specialty instructor training.
